We will have a bigger celebration but we just want to make sure everyone is safe.\u201d He continued by saying \u201cit has been a tough time so stay safe, mask up, wash your hands, and use hand sanitizer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The council then selected personnel for the Tribal Secretary, Tribal Treasurer, and the Fifth Member.<\/p>\n<p>Stacey Two Lance was selected as Tribal Secretary with a majority vote of 10-8 against Anna Takes the Shield Dubray coming in second. Two Lance recently worked in the Secretary\u2019s office as a Database Technician since 2008 and she was previously the Tribal Secretary from 1998 to 2000.<\/p>\n<p>Before being selected, Two Lance outlined goals she wishes to achieve while in office. Upgrading technology in the Secretary\u2019s office and improving communications with everyone involved with the government and the government\u2019s affairs were among her goals.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI live an drug and alcohol free life,\u201d she finished by saying. \u201cI like by the Lakota morals, values, and traditions and I will utilize my knowledge of the OST constitutions to serve the Oglala Sioux Tribe and the tribal members to the best of my ability.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mason Big Crow was selected to serve another term as Tribal Treasurer. Big Crow boasted about having no findings throughout audits during his past 8 years as treasurer. \u201cIf I did a bad job, federal funds would have been misused and any funds misused would have showed up in audits.\u201d Big Crow was selected by a majority vote of 16-2 against Antoinette Rodriquez.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, Clifton Samuel Long was selected as the OST Fifth Member. Long, a long time member of the Black Hills Sioux Nation Treaty Council, held up an eagle feather during the meeting and stated that it had been given to him by elders who told him to \u201cdefend that treaty, take care of that treaty because it is a powerful covenant between the Oglala Nation and the United States of America.\u201d Long also stated that he has fought for the Yakima and Navajo Tribes over treaty issues and has succeeded.
