CROW AGENCY, Mont. \u2013 On May 24, 2021 Little Big Horn Park Superintendent Wayne Challoner<\/p>\n

Announced that the park visitor center is now re-opened.\u00a0 Due to COVID-19, the Center has been closed for over a year.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis means that people traveling far and wide to see this sacred ground can now interact with rangers, see new temporary museum displays and browse the bookstore,\u201d Challoner said.<\/p>\n

Some health-related restrictions, however, remain in effect until further notice.\u00a0 Masks are strongly encouraged, though not required and the number of people in the Visitor Center is limited to 30 at a time.\u00a0 While Park Rangers are available, Ranger-guided tours and guided bus tours have not yet been resumed. Previously, the Crow Tribe held a concession to provide the guided bus tours.<\/p>\n

Public parking and restrooms are also now available.\u00a0 National Park passes are accepted or available for purchase. Park hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm daily.<\/p>\n

The Little Big Horn National Monument is located on the Crow Indian Reservation with the mission of interpreting and protecting a National Veterans Cemetery Indian Memorial the Park site and visitors Center.\u00a0 It is the site of one of the most famous battles in American history \u2013 Battle of the Little Big Horn \u2013 which annually draws about a quarter million visitors, the third top tourist attraction in the State.<\/p>\n

For the past several decades the Park has been the site of the Battle anniversary celebrations drawing tribal members from across the region to parade, give public presentations and conduct the colorful and wild \u201ccharge\u201d of Last Stand Hill.\u00a0\u00a0 Riders from Northern Cheyenne and several Sioux Tribes have made long memorial horseback rides to attend those celebrations.\u00a0 Those events were also not held due to the COVID 19 pandemic and thus far, there has been no word from the park or Tribes if any type of celebration will be held this year.<\/p>\n
