35,000 tree starts were planted and donated<\/em><\/p>\n

This May, Red Cloud Renewable<\/strong> received about 35,000 baby trees grown by the Colorado State Forest Service and paid for\u00a0by Trees, Water, and People and Nomadic Tipi Makers.\u00a0 There were thousands of Ponderosa Pine seedlings, as well as Cottonwood, Willow, Wild Plum, Chokecherry, and Buffaloberry.\u00a0 Throughout May an incredibly hard working crew of local tribes\u2019 members planted most of\u00a0the seedlings\u00a0across a number\u00a0of the steep hillsides of Pine Ridge.\u00a0 Hundreds of the berry bearing bushes were planted along the fence line of the new Lakota Food Forest and hundreds of the\u00a0seedlings were given out to local community members.<\/p>\n
