Stories from the Stage, the
\nWORLD-original series showcasing extraordinary
\nstories told by ordinary people
\nfrom all walks of life, premieres its
\nseventh season on Monday, October 16,
\nat 9:30pm EST. Seven Native Americans
\nare in the spotlight in upcoming episodes
\nof the series this season, which was produced
\nin collaboration with Arizona PBS,
\nNebraska Public Media and Vision Maker
\nMedia. Series hosts, humorists and storytellers
\nTheresa Okokon and Wes Hazard
\nset the stage for the evening\u2019s theme and
\nwelcome each episode\u2019s three amateur
\nstorytellers to perform for a live audience.
\nThe episode On Sacred Ground (October
\n23) features three Lincoln, Nebraska,
\nresidents. Award-winning journalist and
\nmanaging editor of Indianz.com<\/a> Kevin
\nAbourezk \u2014 a citizen of the Rosebud Lakota
\nNation \u2014 details his work to rally
\nhis Native community to oppose a massive
\nhousing development on tribal land
\nin Lincoln. Artist Colleen New Holy \u2014
\nan enrolled member of the Oglala Sioux
\nTribe of Pine Ridge, South Dakota \u2014 details
\nthe judgment heaped on traditional
\nhealing through stories of her mother,
\nnoted activist and educator Rene\u00e9 Sans
\nSouci, and her work as an educator preserving
\nNative culture. Valery Killscrow
\nCopeland \u2014 a member of the Oglala-Lakota
\nSioux Tribe \u2014 takes viewers on a
\nhike\u2026that\u2019s interrupted by Bigfoot!
\nThe second Native American episode
\nSacred Circle (November 13) opens with
\nOmaha resident Levelle Wells of the Elk
\nClan of the Omaha Tribe, who is Afro-Indigenous,
\nas he finds a path to meaning,
\nhealing and helping after prison. Lawrence,
\nKansas filmmaker and University
\nof Kansas assistant professor Rebekka
\nSchlichting \u2014 an enrolled member of the
\nIoway Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska \u2014
\nhonors the keeper of the connection between
\nher people and culture. The episode
\ncloses with Los Angeles resident Charlie
\nPerry, who has light skin and hair, as he
\nreflects on trying to be accepted by fellow
\nmembers of the Prairie Band Potawatomi
\nNation of Mayetta, Kansas.
\nTempe, Arizona resident Kyle Mitchell,
\na Din\u00e9 (Navajo) storyteller and Army
\nveteran, shares the love and wisdom he
\nreceived on the Navajo reservation in All
\nConnected (November 20).
\nNew episodes premiere Mondays
\nat 9:30pm EST through June 2024 on
\nWORLD and stream across WORLD digital
\nplatforms, including YouTube.
\nConnection through identity is interwoven
\nthroughout this season of Stories
\nfrom the Stage. Audiences will find humor,
\npoignant lessons and moments of triumph
\nin episodes such as Finding Family
\n(December 4), Bucket List (January 8),
\nQuest (January 22), From the Heart (February
\n12), Extraordinary Women (March
\n4), Be the Change (March 18), Belonging
\n(May 6) and Sound Check (May 13).
