Roger Broer and Dream Catchers Artists Guild to receive Governors award in the Arts<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

FORT PIERRE \u2013 Arts South Dakota and the South Dakota Arts Council will celebrate the 27th biennial Governor\u2019s Awards in the Arts on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at Drifters Bar & Grille, Fort Pierre.<\/p>\n

Recipients of this year\u2019s awards are: Roger Broer, Hill City, for Distinction in Creative Achievement; Paul Schiller, Sioux Falls, for Outstanding Support of the Arts by an Individual; Mary Wipf, Deadwood, for Outstanding Service in Arts Education; Sanford Health, Sioux Falls, for Out- standing Support of the Arts by an Organization or Business; and Dream Catchers Artists Guild, for Outstanding Support of the Arts to Native Nations with Lands in South Dakota.<\/p>\n

The biennial awards presentation honors the achievements of South Dakota\u2019s fine artists and arts leaders. Award winners are selected from nominations submitted in the five categories reflecting the work of professional artists and arts educators and the support of individuals, businesses, and organizations that encompass South Dakota\u2019s arts community.<\/p>\n

Festivities will begin with a reception at 5:00 pm on February 12, followed by a banquet honoring the award recipients. Arts highlights include music by Paul Larson, Kenny Putnam, and Boyd Bistrow and an exhibition featuring artworks from the Governor\u2019s Student Art Competition. The Governor\u2019s Awards in the Arts are sponsored by Arts South Dakota and the South Dakota Arts Council. South Dakota Arts Council support is provided with funds from the State of South Dakota, through the Department of Tourism, and the National Endowment for the Arts. Additional support comes from the Bush Foundation, First Premier Bank, Delta Dental, BankWest, CorTrust Bank, Architecture Incorporated, Koch Hazard Architects, and Click Rain.<\/p>\n
