(Photo courtesy of Patty Peacock)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>DUPREE \u2013 For the first time since 2018, the community enjoyed the 2025 Dupree Wacipi held July 11\u201313th. According to Jenny Jeffries, one of the organizers, \u201cWe had a successful turnout for 2025. And we will be doing this yearly as long as creator lets us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Members of the Cheyenne River Veteran\u2019s Association served as the Color Guard and Richard Charging Eagle was the emcee for the event. Doug Dupris was the Arena Director and the host drum was Bad Bear.<\/p>\n<p>Other drumming groups participating in the wacipi included Rockin A, Standing Cloud, Straight Blanket, Screaming Eagle, Tate Hotain, Oak Creek, Eagle Sky, and Lakota Tunes.<\/p>\n<p>Competitors danced in four paid contests including traditional, fancy, jingle dress, and grass style with 4 divisions: tiny tots (ages 1-5), junior boys and girls (ages 6-12), teen boys and girls (ages 13-17) and adults (men and women, ages 18 and older).<\/p>\n<p>According to Bernita In the Woods, another organizer, winners in the dance contests included:<\/p>\n<p>JR GIRLS FANCY: 3rd Place \u2013 Aniston One Feather; 2nd Place \u2013 Daxlyn Lee; 1st Place \u2013 Creek Carry Moccasin<\/p>\n<p>JR GIRLS JINGLE: 3rd Place \u2013 Alexa Anderson; 2nd Place \u2013 Eva LeClaire; 1st Place \u2013 Maypiha Ska Frazier<\/p>\n<p>JR GIRLS TRADITIONAL: 1st Place \u2013 Lola White Buffalo<\/p>\n<p>JR BOYS FANCY: 1st Place \u2013 Dustan Knife<\/p>\n<p>JR BOYS GRASS: 3rd Place \u2013 Wanbli Ska Frazier; 2nd Place \u2013 O\u2019Maste Frost; 1st Place \u2013 Musin Makes Room For Them<\/p>\n<p>TEEN GIRLS FANCY: 2nd Place \u2013 Ehanniwin Red Bird; 1st Place \u2013 Emma Brown<\/p>\n<p>TEEN GIRLS JINGLE: 3rd Place \u2013 Bright Star Iron Horn; 2nd Place \u2013 Leelee Arnett; 1st Place \u2013 Gracie Running Bear<\/p>\n<p>TEEN GIRLS TRADITIONAL: 2nd Place \u2013 Elaina Waters; 1st Place \u2013 Wicahpi Luta Pay Pay Frazier<\/p>\n<p>TEEN BOYS FANCY: 1st Place \u2013 Zuya Iron Horn<\/p>\n<p>TEEN BOYS GRASS: 3rd Place \u2013 Gage Bald Eagle; 2nd Place \u2013 Alden One Feather; 1st Place \u2013 Charles White Buffalo<\/p>\n<p>WOMEN\u2019S FANCY: 3rd Place \u2013 Elizabeth Eagle; 2nd Place \u2013 Natisha Charging Eagle; 1st Place \u2013 Diamond Red Legs<\/p>\n<p>WOMEN\u2019S JINGLE: 3rd Place \u2013 Sum- mer Bowman; 2nd Place \u2013 Tina Shields; 1st Place \u2013 Sarah Molash<\/p>\n<p>WOMEN\u2019S TRADITIONAL: 3rd Place \u2013 Brittney Arnett; 2nd Place \u2013 Millie Black Bear; 1st Place \u2013 Precious Cook<\/p>\n<p>MEN\u2019S FANCY: 1st Place \u2013 Josh Thunder Hawk \/ Ted Eagle, Jr.<\/p>\n<p>MEN\u2019S GRASS: 2nd Place \u2013 Darwyn Makes Room For Them; 1st Place \u2013 Tabor White Buffalo<\/p>\n<p>MEN\u2019S TRADITIONAL: 3rd Place \u2013 Eldon J. Reed; 2nd Place \u2013 Anthony Spotted Elk; 1st Place \u2013 Sheldon Tree Top<\/p>\n<p>Vendors were available selling foods and crafted items. The Burton In The Woods Family and the YMCA of the 7 Council Fires provided meals.<\/p>\n<p>Gail White Feather attended and said, \u201cIt was the first in a long time and it was a good time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cekpa Olepe Win posted on Facebook: \u201cDupree Wacipi in the Books 2025! I came home with second place. \u2026all around just had fun with my sisters and all my nieces and nephews.
