RAPID CITY\u2014Next week, kids throughout the community will be parading through neighborhoods in colorful costumes knocking on doors seeking tiny sweet treats for Halloween.<\/p>\n

For a fourth consecutive year, the City\u2019s Community Relations Commission is seeking donations of candy and costumes in support of the Knollwood Trunk or Treat event. Donations can be dropped off at collection boxes in the City Hall lobby, 300 Sixth Street.<\/p>\n

The Knollwood Trunk or Treat event is sponsored by the Renewal MB Church and will be held in the Renewal MB Church (formerly Chucky Cheese) parking lot on Halloween evening from 6-7:30 p.m. and the public is invited.<\/p>\n

Donations will be accepted through next Monday. Journey On will be sponsoring a Halloween boutique at the Knollwood Clubhouse to provide youth without a Halloween costume with an opportunity to select or create one of their own. Costumes will be distributed to Knollwood community students and families on Wednesday, October 29 from 3:30\u20135:00 p.m. at the Clubhouse.<\/p>\n

In the previous three years of the candy donation drive, more than 25,000 pieces of candy have been donated to support the event. The Rapid City Police Department also assisted with the candy collection drive. Dozens of costumes were donated last year in the first year of the costume drive.<\/p>\n

As residents prepare for trick-or-treaters this Halloween season, committee members ask the community to pick up an extra bag or two of candy for the Knollwood community children and to consider donating a new or gently-used costume.<\/p>\n
