Rapid City, SD \u2013 Today, NDN Collective launched the third open round of the organization\u2019s Collective Abundance Fund application \u2013 an ambitious award intended to support the rebuilding of Indigenous generational wealth while addressing the racial wealth gap among Indigenous individuals and families in Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota.<\/p>\n

The Collective Abundance Fund was born from a $50 million grant from the Bush Foundation in an effort to address historical injustices and support Indigenous communities in building generational wealth. Over the first two rounds, $15.9M has been awarded to 396 individuals and families.<\/p>\n

This round of Collective Abundance Fund grants will be awarded in July 2026, in amounts of either $25,000 or $50,000, and will have a term of 18 months. This round will be particularly focused on powerbuilding in the broader effort to help people achieve their dreams and aspirations rooted in the definition of Indigenous wealth.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Collective Abundance Fund will continue as an essential resource for hundreds of people in the tri-state area \u2013 particularly in a time of great financial uncertainty,\u201d said Sharon Pazi Zea, Senior Program Officer for the Collective Abundance Fund. \u201cRedistributing wealth to Indigenous people is more important than ever. Because of our holistic, collective definition of wealth, we know that these awards don\u2019t just stay within one family \u2013 they ripple out to benefit the larger community.\u201d<\/p>\n

A comprehensive report on insights and impact from round one of the Collective Abundance Fund can be found here. While much of the impact is difficult to quantify \u2013 which is why NDN Collective also analyzed qualitative data in the report \u2013 key insights from round one include:<\/p>\n

\u2022 LANDBACK: Awardees purchased a total of 1,065 acres of land<\/p>\n

\u2022 Home ownership & household stability: 52% of awardees reported improved household stability or home ownership.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Education & skill building: 44% of awardees gained a new degree, certificate, or skill.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Creating new jobs: 173 new jobs or contracts were established as a result of awardees investing this award into new or existing businesses<\/p>\n
