Supaman, Christian Takes Gun Parrish, of the Apsaalooke Nation will perform at the Matthews Opera House in Deadwood, Friday January 17.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

SPEARFISH \u2013<\/strong> Montana based Native American Hip Hop Artist Supaman performing at the Matthews Opera House on Friday, January 17 as part of the current Subscription Series season. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for youth (18 and under) and college students.<\/p>\n

As a member of the Apsaalooke Nation, Supaman makes his home on the Crow reservation in Montana. \u201cSupaman\u201d is Christian Takes Gun Parrish, a Native American dancer and innovative hip hop artist who has dedicated his life to empowering and spreading a message of hope, pride and resilience through his original art form. Supaman\u2019s one of a kind presentation combines Native culture, comedy and urban hip hop culture which dazzles audiences and captivates listeners.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe cannot wait to welcome Supaman to the Matthews\u2019 stage,\u201d said Darren Granaas, executive director at the Matthews. \u201cSupaman is not only an incredible rapper and musician, but an inspiring communicator of indigenous issues.\u201d<\/p>\n

Granaas went on to add that Supaman will also take part in several community residencies in the days leading up to his concert.<\/p>\n

\u201cHaving the ability to bring artists like Supaman into local schools is why we do what we do,\u201d Granaas said. \u201cIt\u2019s through ticket sales, donations, and the support of organizations like the Spearfish Foundation for Public Education that residencies like this are even possible.\u201d<\/p>\n

Supaman has been the recipient of the 2017 MTV VMA award for \u201cBest Fight Against the System.\u201d He is also a Nammy \u201cNative American Music Award\u201d winner, \u201cNorth American Indigenous Image Award winner, and seven \u201cTunney Award winner. He was awarded\u00a0The Aboriginal People\u2019s Choice Music Award in Canada for best video and was voted MTV\u2019s new Artist of the Week. His 2018 nominations brought him home awards for Best Hip Hop Album and Best Producer for the Indigenous Music Awards. His latest video titled \u201cPrayer Loop Song\u201d and \u201cWhy\u201d both have gone viral and have received millions of views on YouTube and Facebook which has put him in high demand touring extensively throughout the U.S.A and internationally. He has also worked with Taboo from the multi-grammy award-winning group \u201cBlack Eyed Peas.\u201d<\/p>\n
