The Social Security Administration has redesigned their website to make access to online services more user-friendly. The new layout provides direct access to do things like: Check eligibility for benefits<\/a>, Plan for retirement<\/a>, Apply for benefits<\/a>, Sign up for Medicare<\/a>, Appeal a decision<\/a>, and\/or Check application or appeal status<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

They offer four portals which classify requests– there’s a “Documents” portal, a “Number & Card” portal, a “Payment” portal, and “Record” portal. <\/p>\n\n\n

Through the Documents portal<\/strong> you can Get a benefit verification letter<\/a>, or Get tax forms like 1099s or 1042s)<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through the Number and Card portal <\/strong>you can Replace a social security card<\/a>, Request a social security number for the first time<\/a>, or Report a stolen number<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through the Payment<\/strong> portal<\/strong> you can Update direct deposit<\/a>, Repay overpaid benefits<\/a>, Request to withhold taxes<\/a>, or View a benefit payment schedule<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

And through the Record portal<\/strong> you can Update contact information<\/a>, Update an incorrect birthday<\/a>, Update sex identification<\/a>, and\/or change your name<\/a>. You can learn more by visiting the redesigned site<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
