An event almost 2 years ago, has slowed to a crawl, so Judge Robert Gusinsky decided to put a time limit on said case. He has given the Pennington County’s State’s Attorney’s Office 45 days to make up their minds on how to charge Arnson Absolu, a 37 year old man from New York with killing 3 people.
Back in August of 2020, Charles Red Willow, 26 of Rapid City, Ashley Nagy, 29, of Greely, Colorado, and Dakota Zaiser, 22, of Rapid City, were the parties Absolu is being charge with in premeditated First-degree murder, as Red Willow and Nagy were found dead at Thomson Park in Rapid City, on August 24th. A 911 call around 10:40pm that night alerted the police to the gunshots, and later Zaiser, the third victim, and possibly a witness, was found a month later, near Sheridan Lake, and police felt the body was moved to that location, while estimating his own time of death was around the 24th of August as well.
Apprehended in the Bronx in January 2021, Absolu is currently being held in the Pennington County Jail with no bail, after being extradited to Rapid City, on January 19th, after being charged with the murders.
If convicted of the murders, Absolu could face life in prison, while currently, the state only has one person on Death Row in Sioux Falls. Absolu’s next hearing is slated for May 31st.
