2021 was a tree planting success
2021 was a tree planting success
35,000 tree starts were planted and donated
This May, Red Cloud Renewable received about 35,000 baby trees grown by the Colorado State Forest Service and paid for by Trees, Water, and People and Nomadic Tipi Makers. There were thousands of Ponderosa Pine seedlings, as well as Cottonwood, Willow, Wild Plum, Chokecherry, and Buffaloberry. Throughout May an incredibly hard working crew of local tribes’ members planted most of the seedlings across a number of the steep hillsides of Pine Ridge. Hundreds of the berry bearing bushes were planted along the fence line of the new Lakota Food Forest and hundreds of the seedlings were given out to local community members.
