Daron White Eagle Memorial Center grand opening

The Board of Directors of Wambli Ska Okolakiciye and Woyatan are excited to announce the much-anticipated Grand Opening of the Daron White Eagle Center. The Daron White Eagle Center honors the legacy of Daron White Eagle the founder of Wambli Ska Okolakiciye and father of Chris White Eagle, President of Wambli Ska Okolakiciye. Daron worked tirelessly to bring traditional song and dance to youth and their families as a means to inspire connection with culture and setting forth the path of a good road. Chris, his wife Tarah, their children, family, and friends continue this work in collaboration with Woyatan Pastor Jonathan Old Horse and numerous community members. “Providing our kids from the neighborhood and throughout the area with a place to go, experience their culture, be surrounded by positive role models and help them achieve their dreams is our goal”, says Chris White Eagle.

The Daron White Eagle Center will provide a place for our youth and families to experience a connection to culture, resources, services, food and so much more. The center will continue the focus of Daron’s work with song and dance practice, art, cultural teachings and events, ceremonies, educational support, and cooking!

The Daron White Eagle Center has been made possible by a lot of sweat and personal investment from community members and the support of Center for Disaster Philanthropy, NDN Collective, Great Plains Tribal Leaders Health Board, Journey On, Rapid City Police Action league, Pennington County States Attorney Office, Recovery Communities of South Dakota, South Canyon Lutheran Church, and Calvary Lutheran Church.
