SIOUX FALLS, SD – South Dakotans for Fair Elections, the campaign formed to oppose Amendment C, is comprised of a broad coalition of individuals and organizations that spans industries and partisan politics, working to ensure that South Dakota’s ballot initiative measures, constitutional amendment, and referred measure process stay intact.
Zach Nistler, spokesperson for South Dakotans for Fair Elections, issued the following statement:
“Today South Dakotans cast their ballots in overwhelming opposition to Amendment C. South Dakotans knew the sacred tradition of “majority rule” was on the ballot and voted to protect a tradition this country and South Dakota are founded on.
“Our coalition brought together individuals and trusted South Dakotan organizations spanning industries and partisan politics to stand up for our South Dakotan way of life. Overcoming out-of-state special interests and partisan political games aimed at trying to pull a quick one past South Dakotans.
“Those who tried to dramatically change the South Dakota Constitution should rest assured that over 60% opposed Amendment C, reaffirming and ensuring majority rule in South Dakota.”
