College Summit and Fair to be held at Crazy Horse

CRAZY HORSE – In 1978, the Crazy Horse Memorial scholarship program began with a single college scholarship of $250 awarded to a college student studying in South Dakota. Korczak Ziolkowski called it a “modest effort now toward the future, long-range educational goals of Crazy Horse” – and in the last eleven years, nearly 300 students from over 40 Native Nations and 20 states have successfully completed an academic program of The Indian University of North America® of Crazy Horse Memorial and continued their college studies at universities and colleges throughout the United States. 72% of our scholarship program students remained in college or had graduated.
To further that dream and mission, the Indian University of North America® at Crazy Horse Memorial® is proud to present the first-annual (on-site) 7TH GEN.Summit and College Resource Fair on April 25th and 26th to be held in-person both at the University and the Memorial.“The College Summit and Fair is a wonderful opportunity for students to learn how to navigate the labyrinth of higher education,” said Professor Charlie Luecke, Interim University Director.
On Tuesday, April 25th educators, counselors and colleges can attend the College Summit on-site at the Indian University of North America® campus for a day of round table discussions, talks and more. On Wednesday, April 26th, students can visit the Crazy Horse Memorial® for the all-day College Fair, where over 30 tribal colleges, universities, scholarships, and other educational programs will have booths set up throughout the complex. South Dakota State University, Oglala Lakota College, Black Hills School of Mines and Technology, the University of South Dakota, the U.S. Navy and dozens more will have representatives present to discuss students’ academic futures.
Please visit The Indian University of North America for more information on this event, or to register a student, counselor or to register for a booth at the Resource Fair.
