COMMUNITY SEARCH FOR SUSAN FAST EAGLE & MMIR
IN RAPID CITY, SD & SURROUNDING AREAS
RAPID CITY, SD, 5/22/21 — Sahnish Scouts will be partnering with Creek Patrol & AIM Grassroots to lead a community search for Susan Fast Eagle here in Rapid City, SD. Sahnish Scouts will be giving a volunteer orientation to the community in order to teach search team organizing skills, mapping, & search protocols. This event will start at 9:00am at the Memorial Park Bandshell beginning with an opening prayer, call to action, & orientation that will then be followed by a community search throughout the Rapid City area until 6:00pm.
Water, snacks, lunch & dinner will be provided for search teams sponsored by NDN Collective. The organizations ask for community members to come with any flyers they have of missing relatives & if they do not have flyers to contact Sahnish Scouts @SahnishScouts@gmail.com ASAP so one can be made for them.
All search volunteers will be wearing armbands with the acronym “MMIR” to be easily identified for the search & so the community is aware of volunteers gathering in certain areas. All community members are encouraged to come learn, support & search, as we need as many volunteers as possible to help in this effort.
“Awareness is only the starting point, we need community members to take action, put their energy into organizing around finding our missing relatives. It’s time for our communities to take the lead on these efforts & not get stuck in the bureaucracy of systems not meant for us. “- Hesapa Community Member BOOTS ON THE GROUND
