Covid-19 update
RAPID CITY―Just weeks after the school year began, positive Covid-19 cases among children and teachers are on the rise. As of September 13, the Rapid City Area Schools (RCAS) website showed 247 current active cases in RCAS district, which includes 23 staff and 224 students. The RCAS website also showed 569 people currently in quarantine/isolation in the RCAS district, including 33 staff and 536 students.
As of September 14, the South Dakota Department of Health’s (SD DOH) daily COVID-19 update showed 792 new confirmed cases in the state, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 120,867. There are 200 new probable cases reported, which brings the total of probable cases to 17,425.
The SD DOH also showed on September 14 that 7,263 cases are considered active. There are currently 215 people hospitalized in South Dakota right now, with a total of 7,090 ever hospitalized. The total number of South Dakotans who have recovered from Covid-19 is 128,937. The total deaths recorded are 2,092.
