Community Vaccination Events

PINE RIDGE—The Pine Ridge Indian Health Service has posted several community vaccination events.

 

Who can get the vaccine: The following COVID vaccinations are available at all locations:

  • Ages 12 years of age and older – 1st doses and 2nd doses of Pfizer COVID vaccine
  • Ages 18 years of age and older – 1st and 2nd doses of Moderna COVID vaccine
  • Ages 18 years of age and older – One dose Johnson & Johnson COVID vaccine. (Johnson &Johnson requires one dose.)

 

The CDC has recommended that certain people who have a moderate to severely weakened immune system receive a 3rd dose of a COVID vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccines). Examples of immune-compromised conditions include the following:

  • Been receiving active cancer treatment for tumors or cancers of the blood
  • Received an organ transplant and are taking medicine to suppress the immune system
  • Received a stem cell transplant within the last 2 years or are taking medicine tosuppress the immune system
  • Moderate or severe primary immunodeficiency (such as DiGeorge syndrome, Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome)
  • Advanced or untreated HIV infection
  • Active treatment with high-dose corticosteroids or other drugs that may suppress yourimmune response

 

People should talk to their healthcare provider about their medical condition, and whether getting

an additional dose is appropriate for them. “If you do not receive care at one of the PRSU clinics, please bring documentation from your primary care provider that you are immunocompromised.”

 

All childhood and adult vaccinations are available for all ages at community events. Parent or legal guardian must be present for childhood immunizations and COVID vaccinations COVID vaccinations and all other vaccinations are available at the events below:

American Horse Gym Allen, SDCOVID vaccinations Wednesday, September 29, 2021, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

You may walk in for COVID-19 vaccinations Monday through Friday from 9 am to 6:30 pm at the following locations:

  • Pine Ridge Outpatient COVID Vaccination Walk in Clinic,

You may walk in for COVID-19 vaccinations Monday through Friday from 9 am to 4:00 pm at:

  • Pine Ridge Vaccination Tents

 

You may walk in for COVID-19 vaccinations Sunday from 11 am – 5 pm at the Pine Ridge Outpatient COVID Vaccination Walk in Clinic (inside hospital).

 

We will monitor you for 15 minutes after the vaccine is given as a precaution. Allergic reactions to COVID vaccines have been extremely rare. (You will be monitored for 30 minutes if you have history of past reactions to injections).

 

You should not get a COVID-19 vaccine if you:

  • Have had a known COVID-19 exposure and are currently quarantined
  • Have symptoms of COVID-19, including a cough, fever, shortness of breath, or loss of taste or smell
  • Have a pending COVID-19 test
  • Had any other vaccine in the past 14 days

Available at all clinics and the hospital:

Come to the front of the hospital and call 605-867-3366 to test in the parking lot. Testing is no longer in the tent behind the hospital, please drive to the main entrance, stay in your car, and call.

If you have questions regarding the COVID-19 vaccine or COVID testing, you can call the COVID-19 Nurse Triage Line 605-867-3300. The nurse line is available Monday through Friday from 8 am to 4:30 pm.
