Empowering Native filmmakers
KYLE — Starting July 21st and ending July 30th, 2025, Reel Jobs Film School will host its 10th Summer Film Camp at its Kyle, SD Campus. Over the next two weeks, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (weekends off), we will begin each day with breakfast and provide three meals daily. For participants coming from other Tribal Communities, housing will also be provided.
This year, we will focus on training in all the basic film equipment, including understanding and setting up cinema-format cameras, using fixed lenses, and working with hot and cold lighting, sound recording, and basic editing. Once the new filmmakers are ready, they will help finish shooting special effects scenes for With You In Spirit, a feature film currently in production and largely shot last summer.
Participants will be involved as Production Assistants, and their names will be recognized in the film credits. Live your dream—give it a try! Native entertainment is on the cusp of success and continues to grow daily. Experience is essential to getting hired. If you’ve dreamed of filmmaking, don’t hold back. Stop saying, “I shoulda, I woulda, if I had only…” and find out if this is the right path for you!
At Reel Jobs, we’ve been hearing about procrastination for years, but the right people always show up. We are partnered with Cloud Horse Media, which now has three feature films available on platforms like Heritage Network, Amazon Prime, and Tubi, among others.
Cloud Horse Media is the most successful film production company in South Dakota’s history. Nothing happens overnight—making a film requires determination, faith in yourself and your team, and hours of hard work. If you believe we shouldn’t leave this vital section of Native America to the whims of Hollywood, then join us in building a thriving industry that will create excellent new jobs in our region every year.
If you want to register for the camp or have any questions, please feel free to contact Mark St. Pierre, Film School Director, at 605-890- 6280. He has extensive experience and encourages everyone to relax and enjoy the learning process involved in serious film and television production.
