RAPID CITY — The Journey Museum is accepting applications from community minded leaders interested in serving on its Board of Directors. This volunteer leadership opportunity offers a meaningful way to contribute to one of the Black Hills’ most respected cultural institutions and help shape its strategic vision for the future.

As a cornerstone of the region’s cultural landscape, The Journey Museum weaves together history, science, culture, and art to share the story of the Black Hills—from the formation of the Earth to the diverse communities who have called this area home. The Board of Directors provides strategic oversight, strengthens community partnerships, and ensures the long-term sustainability of the museum’s mission and programs. As part of the Museum Alliance of Rapid City’s next phase following the successful merger with the Black Hills Historical Society, The Journey Museum is inviting community members to nominate themselves for board service. This outreach reflects our commitment to strengthening community representation and engagement as we move forward with MARC board now operating as a unified organization.

Application Process

Interested candidates are invited to submit a letter of interest and résumé to cmcmahon@journeymuseum.org. Applicants should outline their relevant experience, connection to the museum’s mission, and the perspective they would bring to the Board.
