Amazon Offers Self-Pay Telehealth Appts starting at $29 per session, or $9 per month for Prime Members
|
Amazon offers online Telehealth appointments for individuals to see a doctor or nurse. The appointments enable participants to discuss their medical issue, receive a treatment plan and a prescription for any recommended medication. Prescriptions can be filled by Amazon Pharmacy and delivered to one’s home. Amazon can alternatively have the prescription filled at one’s preferred local pharmacy. The appointments are available 24/7, and for non Prime members, cost $29 per session for messaging visits, or $49 for video visits.
This is a significant savings for those without insurance or otherwise paying out-of-pocket for medical appointments. An additional savings is available if one has an Amazon Prime membership. Amazon Prime members can pay a monthly fee of $9 to have unlimited access to Telehealth.
If one has SNAP, or another government assistance program, Amazon offers a discounted Prime membership. The discounted price is $6.99 per month, which can be bundled with the $9 monthly fee to have unlimited access to Telehealth. That is roughly $15 per month bundling Telehealth and Amazon Prime, when one is a recipient of SNAP or other government assistance program.
Again, this is a significant savings for individuals and families who self pay for primary care appointments. It may also be cost effective for those who have medical insurance but struggle with timely scheduling or transportation issues.
