Current Initiatives
PROGRAMS: We target the most economically challenged areas in the U.S. — and leverage funding, as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, to lay the groundwork for collaborative social service efforts supporting the marginalized and vulnerable people in those areas.
Urban Initiative According to the most recent census data, the top 10 most economically challenged urban centers in the United States are: 10) Memphis, TN; 9) Toledo, OH; 8) Miami, FL; 7) Milwaukee, WI; 6) Newark, NJ; 5) Fresno, CA; 4) Cincinnati, OH; 3) Buffalo, NY; 2) Cleveland, OH; and 1) Detroit, MI. Of these, Ohio has the most, so we’ve starting in Ohio. We have begun efforts in Cincinnati and plan to launch in Toledo and Cleveland within the next year, followed by launches in the other cities as we build our financial base.
Rural Initiative According to the most recent census data, the top 10 most economically challenged rural areas in the United States are: 10) Goofy Ridge, IL; 9) Cedar Crest, OK; 8) Keokee, VA; 7) Florence, IN; 6) Kinloch, MO; 5) Steamboat, AZ; 4) Goodyear Village, AZ; 3) Drysdale, AZ; 2) Westley, CA; and 1) Tecolote, NM. Most of these rural places are so impoverished they don’t even have zip codes — referred to instead as CDPs (“Census Designated Places”). We are still developing the strategy for rural initiative, and need committed funding to establish a foothold in these small rural areas.
Providing a central access point for communities to share social service resource information is a community investment that helps individuals and families in need through increased breadth of support.
